Question
I’m interested in eyelid surgery. I live in Bloomington and I’d like to know how you decide whether to make an incision on the outside or inside of the eyelid.
Answer
We see patients from all over the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest area including Bloomington. Periorbital rejuvenation or urgical correction in the eye area can provide a very youthful appearance. In the lower eyelid, when there are fat bulges or bags, we’re often able to tweak these with incisions inside the eyelid that are not visible and this can also be associated with less risk of downward displacement of the eyelid. When there’s a significant degree of skin redundancy, particularly seen in the upper lid, an incision is made in a crease line so the access can be re-draped, but if they’re just bags or bulges on the lower lid, these can be corrected with incisions hidden inside the lid. These procedures often provide a gratifying improvement with a very rapid recovery.
