I recently heard of something called a Y facelift. What is this and is it effective?
The Y face lift is a proprietary term used to describe an unproven, minimally invasive procedure. Over the years, there have been numerous procedures that have been developed by one surgeon that have been promoted extensively. Most of these minimally invasive procedures do not stand the test of time and you may therefore be incurring some risks or expense with no proven benefit. If one searches the medical literature for this procedure, there are no references and thus no comparative studies that have been carried out to determine the efficacy of the procedure. Our general belief is that minimally invasive procedures create, for the most part, minimally effective results. Less invasive procedures are available, such as the short incision face lift that we do. We find these to be very effective but they are not done over the lunch time as many of these procedures suggest.
